My recent work deals with the creation of a mythology and aesthetic, culture and history for oneself within our expanded global culture. As we sift through the vast quantities of cultural information currently available to us, we create identities for ourselves, not through geographical happenstance but through our own aesthetic judgments. I make drawings and cut paper works that create a hagiography, a creation myth and history for someone who grew up drawing animals. reading fantasy novels, who listens to heavy metal and watches cartoons. As the mythology grows with my body of work there emerge borrowed themes and images, seemingly random repetitions, and clear references that make this mythology both highly personal and strangely familiar.
